What your team receives
How much does a Lamplighter tournament cost?
The 2026–27 tournament entry fee is $2,100 per team. Payment instructions and the deadline will be included in your acceptance email.
What is included in the entry fee?
Every Lamplighter tournament includes four guaranteed games, ice and age-appropriate officiating, tournament administration, player swag and medals or awards. U7 and U9 players receive participation medals; U11 through U18 tournaments award first-, second- and third-place medals. Swag items may vary slightly by tournament or season.
Are travel, hotels or meals included?
No. Travel, accommodations and team meals are separate from the tournament entry fee. When hotel blocks are available, booking details will be shared with accepted teams.
What is the cancellation or refund policy?
Cancellation and refund terms will be included with the acceptance and payment instructions. Please review those terms before paying and contact us right away if your team’s plans change.
REGISTRATION & TEAM SELECTION
How entry works
Does submitting an expression of interest guarantee entry?
No. An expression of interest lets the host team know you would like to attend, but it does not reserve a spot. Selected teams will receive a formal acceptance directly from the tournament host.
How are teams selected?
Hosts review age group, expected tier, competitive fit, completed information and the overall tournament mix. The goal is to create balanced, meaningful matchups for every team.
When is our spot confirmed?
Your spot is confirmed only after you receive an acceptance and complete the payment requirements by the stated deadline. If payment is late, the host may offer the spot to another team.
Can we apply to more than one Lamplighter tournament?
Yes, if there is more than one suitable event for your team. Submit the age-group form and clearly identify the tournament or dates you are interested in. Hockey Calgary limits how many tournaments a team may attend during the season, so managers should confirm eligibility before applying.
RULES & GAME PLAY
What happens on the ice
What rules do Lamplighter tournaments follow?
Lamplighter tournaments are sanctioned through Hockey Calgary and follow applicable Hockey Canada Official Playing Rules, Hockey Alberta regulations and Hockey Calgary policies and age-specific gameplay guidelines.
How many games will our team play?
Every team is guaranteed four games. Game length and format vary by age group and tier: U7 and U9 use age-appropriate introductory hockey formats, while U11 through U18 use the applicable tournament format and placement structure.
What roster requirements apply?
Teams must use properly registered and eligible players and team officials in accordance with their governing body’s rules. Accepted teams will be told what roster or team information must be submitted before the tournament.
Will our team play opponents at the same level?
That is the goal. Hosts use the expected tier information supplied by teams to build the most competitive and balanced field possible. Final placement remains subject to team availability and governing-body tiering.
SCHEDULES, LOCATIONS & TRAVEL
Planning your weekend

The tournament host will send the schedule to accepted teams once ice times, participating teams and the final format are confirmed. Teams should plan to be available throughout the full tournament date range.
Will hotel blocks be available?
Hotel information will be shared with accepted teams when a block has been arranged. Teams book and pay for their own rooms directly with the hotel using the instructions provided.
